Broadening the experiences of pupils is among the aims of St Peter’s CE Primary School where a new Sunshine Gym has been installed.
It wanted to encourage children to engage in physical activity by providing a wider range of equipment for them to use.
The school decided to invest its PE and Sport Premium in an outdoor gym, which is available to children during structured lessons and play times.
At the heart of the gym is a Children’s Motiv8 Multi Gym, suitable for up to eight users.
This includes a Double Health Walker, Double Slalom Skier, Double Sky Stepper and Double Horse Rider.
These items encourage aerobic activity and are designed to raise the heart rate.
To accompany the Motiv8, the school chose to install a Children’s Arm and Pedal Bike and Children’s Rower.
These combine upper and lower body movements and also help to hone coordination.
A Double Strength Challenger injects an element of healthy competition for pupils who have to try and turn their wheel the furthest.
And a Waist Twister is a great way to stretch out, cool down and warm up while interacting with other users.
All equipment installed at St Peter’s CE Primary comes from the Sunshine Gym children’s range, built in proportion for users under 140cm tall.
The outdoor gym was installed at the school’s KS2 area, with our teams fitting grass matting around the equipment to protect the surface.
