Child Friendly Outdoor Gym at Hextable Park, Swanley
Swanley Park Fitness Facilities for All Ages
Hextable Park, part of the wider Swanley Park community in Kent, is a popular destination for families, walkers, and sports enthusiasts. To enhance the existing facilities, Sunshine Gym was chosen to deliver a child friendly outdoor gym design that adds a new dimension to the park’s appeal.
The project demonstrates how carefully planned outdoor installations can complement established features like the Swanley tennis courts and children’s play zones, creating an inclusive destination for health, fitness, and recreation.
Child Friendly Outdoor Gym Design in Hextable Park
One of the priorities for this installation was to provide a facility that would appeal to a wide range of users, including younger people. By focusing on child friendly outdoor gym design, Sunshine Gym created an accessible space where children can engage with equipment safely under supervision, while adults enjoy their own workouts alongside them.
This approach supports healthier family lifestyles and encourages intergenerational use of outdoor spaces, making the gym a true community asset.
A Local Option Among Swanley Gyms
For residents exploring Swanley gyms, the Hextable Park installation offers a free, accessible option set in a green, outdoor environment. Unlike traditional fitness centres, this facility is available at any time of day, without cost barriers, and is designed for community use.
The gym provides a valuable complement to nearby facilities such as sports courts and walking paths, ensuring that the park continues to serve as a hub for local health and recreation.
Expertise in Gym Installation and Design
Sunshine Gym’s reputation as specialist gym installers was key to the successful delivery of this project. From planning to installation, the team worked to ensure safety, durability, and compliance with national standards.
The equipment has been positioned to make the most of the park’s layout, blending seamlessly into the environment while remaining highly accessible to all users.
Enhancing Swanley’s Outdoor Offer
The new gym at Hextable Park highlights how investments in outdoor fitness infrastructure can strengthen the role of public parks. By adding a child friendly dimension, the project makes it easier for families to spend quality time together while staying active.
This installation adds long-term value for the community, reinforcing Swanley Park’s status as a destination for leisure and wellbeing.
Visitors to Hextable Park have plenty of opportunity to access sport and fitness facilities thanks to a £15,000 investment by the parish council. The outdoor gym area has equipment designed specially for children as well as adults.
Our team drew up a secure layout which included positioning the children’s equipment at an appropriate distance to meet safety standards. It faces the adult-size equipment so families stay visible to each other and can work out together in confidence.
The children’s fitness area for users under 1.4m tall features an Energise Multi Gym, Children’s Rower and Children’s Horse Rider.
This is complemented by bespoke surface markings designed by Sunshine Gym to keep children entertained and active when the equipment is in use.
A Fitness Trail, Training Rings and Space Rocket Hopscotch are among the markings laid down.
A combination of strength and cardiovascular equipment makes up the other half of the outdoor gym.
This features a Double Slalom Skier, Double Squat Push, Sky Stepper and Parallel Rails.
Our sister company Stadia Sports supplied a set of two senior basketball goals for the adjacent MUGA. The heavy duty practice boards are ideal for outdoor use in community settings, offering excellent durability and longevity. Basketball court markings were also laid out. Together the MUGA, Sunshine Gym and additional surface markings have transformed a rundown hard court into a purposeful and colourful health park for all ages and abilities.
