At St Chad's Catholic Primary School, we recently installed outdoor gym equipment to encourage physical activity and promote healthy habits among our students.
Before the outdoor gym equipment was installed, the school had an unused area in its playground that collected leaves and became wet and slippery during autumn and winter. They wanted to transform this area into a safe space where children could play and exercise throughout the year.
A selection of Sunshine Gym's outdoor gym equipment was installed, including our Children's Motiv8 Multi Gym, Children's ENERGISE Multi Gym, and a Children's Waist Twister. Artificial grass was installed under and surrounding the new equipment, giving that part of the playground a new lease of life.
The outdoor gym equipment quickly became a hit with the students, and the teachers noticed a rapid increase in their overall physical activity levels, leading to improved fitness levels and a more positive attitude towards exercise.
Aside from the obvious physical benefits, installing the outdoor gym equipment also positively impacted the students' social interactions, including increased collaboration, teamwork, and friendly competition as the children played on the equipment together.
As part of the project, Hand Made Places, a division of Broxap, installed a balance beam, a traverse rope, a sloped balance beam all surrounded by wet pour.
