A Sunshine Gym is among a raft of improvements designed to boost outdoor learning at Woodville Schools Federation.
Staff have been working to make the outside space at the Derbyshire schools more inviting and interesting.
They hope to make greater use of the grounds thanks to the addition of a reading den, colourful planting and the outdoor gym area.
The extensive fitness zone is made up of a multi gym as well as individual equipment.
The federation chose a Children’s Energise Multi Gym, which combines two of the most popular pieces of Sunshine Gym equipment -  a Double Slalom Skier and a Double Health Walker.
Both offer a strong cardiovascular workout as well as a fun way to keep fit.
In fact the Double Slalom Skier is so popular, the federation decided to add a standalone version to the gym as well.
A Children’s Horse Rider is another lively addition, encouraging users to mimic the motion of riding a horse by pushing and pulling the legs against the foot rests.
A Children’s Rower and Children’s Arm and Pedal Bike are more recognisable pieces of kit, similar to that found in traditional indoor gyms.
Working out the whole body is encouraged at Woodville, with a Double Sit-Up Bench included in the outdoor gym.
Children’s Tai Chi Discs, working the arms and building coordination, are also part of the gym alongside a Children’s Waist Twister.
Our installation teams laid grass mats around the equipment, which will allow grass to grow through while stabilising the ground to prevent it getting too worn and muddy.
A total of 16 stations are now available to children at the schools who work out as part of their class PE lessons.
