A legacy for the future has been created at Hamstel Junior School with the installation of an outdoor gym.
More than £30,000 from the school’s PE and Sport Premium has been invested in the fitness zone.
Reporting on the impact of the improvements, the Essex school said: “The area has been created to allow the children to develop good habits around physical activity.
“It was incredibly well received by the children and we have seen a massive increase in children’s engagement and fitness levels since they returned from lockdown.
“Children have been using this extensively in lesson times. This has created a real legacy for many years to come.”
The Sunshine Gym equipment is accompanied by a sprint track and new tennis equipment was also purchased from our sister company Stadia Sports.
A total of 16 gym stations are available to pupils offering a mix of cardiovascular and balance and coordination workouts.
Our Energise Multi Gym combines two of the most popular pieces of kit – a Double Health Walker and a Double Slalom Skier. These are great for getting the heart rate up.
Two Children’s Sky Steppers, two Children’s Horse Riders and two Children’s Rowers have also been installed.
A Double Sit Up Bench completes the more traditional gym line-up, while two Children’s Arm and Pedal Bikes and our Children’s Tai Chi Discs help to improve flexibility.
Our installation team worked with the school to lay an artificial grass track so youngsters can alternate between sprint training and gym workouts.
The area is being used extensively in break and lunch times as well as in directed lesson time.
